“Summer Garden”

Summer Garden was released in October 2024 and is the latest collection of Igor Balakirev’s original compositions. Inspired by the Summer Gardens in St. Petersburg, it is a departure from Igor’s style to date as it was recorded with a hand-picked, St.Petersburg Chamber Orchestra adding new depth to Igor’s work. This music is set to lyrics from Russian poets including Anna Akhmatova, Anton Delvig, Afanasy Fet, Nikolay Yazykov, Mikhail Lermontov, Apollon Maykov, Alexander Pushkin, and Fyodor Tytchev.

A CD video was released, the title track “Summer Garden”.

“The Seasons”

The Seasons was released in Spring 2023 and includes original piano pieces, each describing the individual month of the year, plus a further three songs representing Christmas, Easter and Saints Day. One track, “Winter” was released as a video single and can be viewed here.

“Alfred Karindi – Forgot ten Masterpieces”

In 2021 and 2022, Igor released two CDs of transcriptions of works by the Estonian organist Alfred Karindi, which were re-arranged for piano and quartet. These world premiere, critically acclaimed recordings presented Karindi’s music, which has all but been forgotten in Estonia, in a vibrant new light. It includes a quartet reworking of Karindi’s most well known piece, “Berceuse”. Copies of these recordings are kept in the Arvo Part library. “Liturgy”

Liturgy was recorded in 2020 with the choir of the Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God, in St. Petersburg. It is a complete, original Russian Orthodox liturgy and is now sung in several churches in Russia.

“Sleeping Princess”

Sleeping Princess was recorded in 2020 and contains numerous original compositions with trio and quartet, including a Flute Sonata, a Cello Sonata, a Violin Sonata, and numerous other pieces for solo piano, trio, and quartet. A video single, ‘Autumn March’ was released and can be seen here.
